thanks people, battery door isn't there. I have definately put two fully charged batteries in. I don't know if i should replace this or get it repaired, especially if it might happen again!! Any suggestions!

okay, so cant do it without grip because cant find or lost the battery door. but definately put both batteries in and fully charged, and as soon as i take it, or i goto liveview it just freezes and doesn't register any detail!! so any other thoughts?

Hi I would advise to look on the forums here, there are lots of cameras for sale. Canon 40d's going for less than £400. And there are plenty of good lenses getting sold daily.

Thanks for all your comments. Markneardarby - how much sharpening did you do, what settings did you use? Hoppy - I was only about 1.5 metres away - although I didn't fill the frame - I thought - admittedly wrong, that if I was further back, I might get one in flight.

I couldnt work out whether the camera was not focusing properly, I had heard something about back/front focusing. Even this landscape picture doesn't look sharp. Taken using a canon 10-22mm
