Canon 5D MKIII official owners/users thread, anything related to the 5D MKIII

Anyone have any clue why the shutter noise from one 5D body to another would be completely different? One giving a very tinny sound, the other a very clunky mechanical sound - same firmware, both new, same settings??

    Anyone bought it yet? http://fotopromos.com

There are some good things in there, good mix of vids, books, presets and cloud membership etc. BUT - for me it sounds like a lot of videos I'd never get time to watch. I'd question a lot of the retail prices though... such as why varying qty of LR presets could justify up to $150+ retail. Maybe...

Workshop Any recommendations for Cheshire/North West - Colleges/courses etc

As above really. With places typically enrolling candidates for September; I wondered if anyone has plans - or knows of any college/uni etc that carries out Photography workshops/classes in the north west? Some of what I have found seems very basic... like 'How to use your digital camera' etc...

Reduced FPS on 3rd party batteries?

Exactly the same firmware - everything points to the batteries, we just don't understand why really. The mAh is higher on the 3rd parties, which usually means the current can be drawn for longer - but overall must be down on how MUCH can be drawn? That's the only conclusion I can come to!

    Ban's over

It took 3 x speed related driving bans for me to finally learn my lesson! The 2nd time in court was embarrassing, the 3rd I might as well have killed someone... They didn't throw the book at me, they catapulted it to my head. Never doing that again.

Reduced FPS on 3rd party batteries?

To ensure the test was comparable, I tested it with lens cap on, manual focus to infinity, manual mode fixed to 1/4000sec and f/4 for all. Also completed the exact same test with another forum members 5D3, different lens, same settings- and it repeated itself. The batteries were the only...

    Torches

I'm a bit sad when it comes to torches, and end up with more torches than I know what to do with! As others seem to have here as well; I have fallen in love with the Led Lenser range of torches. I've recently purchased the Led Lenser X21R.2 - which has 3200 lumens! It's seriously stupidly...

Fake Canon LP E6 batteries off ebay!

As above: I'm on firmware 1.3.3, using Meike battery grip and 2 x DTSE LPE6 batteries with no issue. Full registration and battery info showing. I have seen a slower FPS compared to original though.

Beginner Just starting out, Bridge Camera advice needed

My first 'decent' camera was a bridge Panasonic LUMIX FZ18- I absolutely loved this camera. Great shots, easy controls, a genuinely brill superzoom at the time. Would highly recommend something similar - I learned loads from it before going to DSLR.

    is it worth it ?

Id certainly say so. They're usually around £160-170 new. I have one for my 550D; great lens at a bargain price. For £80, worth every penny IMO

Reduced FPS on 3rd party batteries?

Hi all, I've been getting around 6.5fps on my 5D3 with Canon batteries (high speed continuous). Recently however; I purchased some 3rd party batteries, and since struggle to get close to 5fps. It only seems to have a negative effect with high speed continuous, as silent modes/slow continuous...
