    Photographing glaciers/lakes

Hi. The white balance won't affect your exposure. Your photos won't vary much in white balance and should have equal brightness. I'm a canon shooter, but you can set your camera to view your photo previews with a RGB graph by the side, you can easily see if one or more colours are being...

    eBay?

I read the original post and thought it was about me! I bought a 24-105 from eBay the other week that had an Error 01. I wasn't sure whether the buyer was trying to scam me with a broken lens, but he was very helpful and gave me a full refund when I told him after 3 days. Seems that old 24-105s...

    Epson R series colour problem

Welcome to the forum. You may wish to try manually adjusting your levels of cyan, magenta and yellow if all else fails. Just keep printing the same image, and tweaking the levels. On another note: using 'non-official' inks will produce colours that are way off in my experience.

Flash Unit for a Canon 600D?

I have 622 Mkii myself, can't say I've ever had any trouble with it, very reliable and fast recycling. Plus you get a more powerful flash. Can't say I have ever done a side-by side comparison however

    Grey imports

With Digital Rev, the Tax is billed directly to them. As I understand, they get away with most of their imports being untaxed. They add a small amount onto their price that reflects the 'average' number of times they are caught out, so that you never have to pay the full-whack

    Amazon Returns

Had plenty of successful returns to Amazon. You don't even need to justify the return and the postage is prepaid (Dealing with Amazon directly however).

    Extension tubes,kenko or others?

I got a some as a gift, just unbranded ones from china. 3 tube set with electrical connection for Canon however. Work perfectly, never had any trouble. As Pete says, they are just tubes, its your camera and lens that matter.

    Shoulder bag help needed

I have a manfrotto agile ii stile c. Very compact, fits as hand luggage on flights (even Ryan air!). I fit in a 70-200 2.8, 50mm, 85mm, flash. Has tripod holder and small laptop compartment. All internal compartments can be rearranged and has a side access panel for sling mode. Not sure if I...

    Lens setups?

If you got the 24-70, I'd say you wouldn't need the 50mm. Unless you will be shooting very frequently in low light.

    Sigma 100-300mm f4 w/ TC?

A 2x will always amplify any imperfections in the lens, you will see more chromatic aberrations, purple fringing and loss of sharpness. As you would need a higher ISO speed to compensate for the halving of the amount of light going into the camera, you will get more noise also.

    Digital Rev v Panamoz

Never had any trouble with digitalrev, they have a good import tax policy

    Canon 70-300mm IS USM Macro?

A lot of canon lenses are labelled as macro, but aren't 'true' macro lenses (beyond 1:1 magnification from real life to the sensor image). Macro just means it has a close minimum focusing distance. I think the max magnification with that lens is 0.26x. Invest in some extension tubes to increase...

    Portrait of Kate

I thought it was pretty terrible. Far too soft and it makes her look quite a lot older
