I buy a lot of batteries from the 7dayshop - they're generally great and exceptional value for money.
However, I bought spare batteries for my 5D many years ago. Their performance in cold weather was diabolical. I had a very chilly winter wedding where I had to change the battery every 15 mins...
I find myself using the focal length range 16-35mm about 60% of the time at weddings. A combination of favouring environmental portraits and the limitations of cosy venues!
I'd plump for the 35mm. It's the lens that I use when casually photographing the children round the house. You can get in reasonably close without too much perspective distortion. The 24mm is perhaps stronger at environmental portraits where your subject is less dominant in the frame.
