You know what - I can't be bothered with this site. I will go over to a US based photography forum where other members are courteous and polite and don't rip new members apart and, basically cyber bully them. I see lots of criticism from you but where are your solutions? Perhaps you can post a...
I am not linked to the authors at all
Please enlighten me - what's wrong with the flash guide I have provided the link to? I am REALLY struggling to see what the problems is with it.
Don't know if this should be in the beginners section or not but since it is flash and lighting related I thought is would fit here. Here's a great guide to flash photography that some people may find useful. Just to warn you - it's a biggie.
The 50mm prime is a great lens but there is a learning curve in getting the best out of it. Don't expect to open it right up to f1.8 and get awesome shots - you will be disappointed. Used at narrower apertures you shouldn't have any problems at all, just take your time using it wide open.
I have 4 Godox 860s (the mark 1 version) and use them with Yongnuo 622 flash triggers with the Yongnuo TX on the camera's hot shoe. I use this set up on my 7d and 6d and have had no problems with it at all. The Godox speed lights are exceptional for the money, and I am very impressed with them...
Whilst cruising on a different photography forum I came across this "Photography tips of beginners" series of posts that some of you may find useful. There are various topics including beach photography, travel photography and portrait photography to name just a three. All in all not a bad...
I assume the 2 is the newer version. I have had a quick look at the specs of the 2 and I can't see what the differences are to my AW - There must be some though. From what I can see both the AW1 (like I have) or the AW2 are top quality bags and you won't be disappointed with either.
A bean bag is essential when driving around in a 4X4. I would also recommend a tripod for landscape shots (using your 10 - 18) and the Manfrotto Befree would be perfect for this. I bought the Befree tripod for a jaunt around Europe and as much as I didn't want to take a tripod with me I am so...
I used to use a Black Rapid but after getting banged in to too many times whilst carrying my 6d and 28-300L i decided to make a switch and ended up with the Lower Pro Toploader 75 AW bag. It is a sling bag that keeps the camera in exactly the same place as the Black Rapid did but keeps it...
I would never leave a damp cover on a lens. I can't confirm that doing so will result in damage but I can't think it would do any good, and how much of a chore is it to really remove a lens cover after a shoot?
The flash I would would recommend is the Godox Ving. It not only has HSS but also TTL, which is always useful for "run and gun" style photography. The Godox Ving is an awesome flash that is powerful, full of features, easy to use and a fraction of the price of a Canon branded flash. Here's a...
I have tried both and I have to say I prefer the 35mm on the full frame camera. I use the Canon 35mm f2 IS lens (see a review here) and I have to say it is a cracking lens and not too expensive either. On the crop sensor camera I find the 35mm a bit too long for my liking so I use the Canon EF-S...
When I am carp fishing by myself I set up the "photo area" as soon as the rods are out. I know many anglers think this is a jinx (like setting up the landing net immediately after casting out) but it is best to be prepared. I set up a tripod (where I intend to shoot from) and a bank stick a few...
I had some Cactus V5's and I have to say I was not impressed with them at all. I now use Yongnou 622 triggers with a Yongnou TX transmitter on the camera's hot shoe. With this set up I can set flash groups, mix and match manual/TTL lights and control everything from the camera without having to...
If you only want the lens for landscapes I wouldn't go prime I would go 16mm - 35mm - it is a versatile lens that is perfect for landscapes. Prime lenses are best used when you need a fast lens, i.e. wide aperture, which isn't the case with landscape photography (where maximizing the DOF is...
