    Sigma 18-50mm 2.8 EX DC

I've seen tamron 17-50mm costs £200 mark which is thought to be better Tamron 17-50mm vs sigma 18-50mm http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/ISO-12233-Sample-Crops.aspx?FLI=0&API=0&Sample=0&FLIComp=0&APIComp=0&LensComp=400&CameraComp=474&SampleComp=0&Lens=101

    Zoom lens for Canon 300d

Before you spend on L lenses, try the 55-250mm first. These go around for £120-130 in the selling section. From there you could know whether you need faster aperatures(sigma 70-200mm f2.8), quality L glass, or just like me, found the telephoto lens a good dust gatherer. A wide angle lens is more...

    Lens advice

I had the 17-85mm that came from a kit, but only used it once or twice. It is really slow, making images blurry when using indoors without a flash. It is not a big step up from 18-55mm. I personally like the sigma 24-70mm over the tamron just because of the build, but there seem to be quite a...

    17-40 f4 L Vs Tamron 17-50 f2.8 vc

I traded my 17-40mm just after using it for a week. I'm not sure if it was just my copy but the IQ does not give me a wow factor. If you are not planning to upgrade to fullframe, the tamron seems to be a better bet. Or you can just spend a few more pennies and get the 17-55mm.

    Official Batteries or 3rd Party?

I did not notice any difference between the genuine one and 3rd party batteries. But I always carry the genuine in case the 3rd party died.

    Flash questions

I have the Yong Nuo, its a good flash for the price, but it feels that it will not last a month of heavy usage. I guess the best of the 3 is the nissin but I would recomend you finding a used canon 420ex. I bought mine from this forum for £50
