I wouldn't bother upgrading your 450 for a 500D just for the video, you don't get the control like you do on the 5DmkII or the 7D and the fps isn't all that good.
Canon really need to update the firmware for the 500D's video. :bat::bang:

Perfect thread just what i was looking for an upto date experience of OSD, i've just purchased a battery grip for my 500D and will be purchasing the 580EXII aswell. Very cheap indeed.

This has helped me massively!!!! I was alwasy wondering how people in nightclubs got their subject lit up with the flash but had the ambient light behind them like a tunnel effect.

I don't think i'll be expanding into multi-flash in a nightclub it'll be too much to carry about with me specially walking through the crowds of people LOL!
Thats what i was thinking with the 580 and having a diffuser the more power will be better to get the effect i'm after without having...
