    Nikon 200-500 advice needed

I had a 200-500mm previously, and it was a great lens.... But! it also had the screw problem, which locked the zoom at about 250mm, and I think it was around £350 for the repair. I also had the 300mm and 1.4 TC combo before and there wasn't much in it for image quality, but the AF and VR of the...

    Going from Nikon 400mm f/2.8 & 500mm f/4 to 600mm PF & 400mm f/4.5

Of the ones you mention, I've only got the 600mm 6.3 and I'm gobsmacked how good it is. I had the 500mm PF previously (on a Z9) and I have no regrets at all in changing to the 600. It feels better balanced on the Z9 due lack of FTZ, and the weight sitting further back in the hand. The Z...

    Nikon 500mm PF f5.6 or Z 600mm f6.3

600 PF arrived and I'm very pleased with it :) I was worried I'd not see much difference over the 500 PF, but that extra 100mm is quite noticeable, and it's a fraction lighter but feels better balanced likely due not having to use an adapter and putting the weight further forward. AF seems...

    Nikon 500mm PF f5.6 or Z 600mm f6.3

Hi, Thanks for all the replies folks - I've ended up ordering the Z 600 f6.3 and have put my 500mm PF on ebay, along with the FTZ II and TC14 III I've ordered from Panamoz again as it's vastly cheaper on there compared to UK prices. Although I was more than happy with the 500mm PF, the...

    Nikon 500mm PF f5.6 or Z 600mm f6.3

Hi, Has anybody used both of these? Currently I have a 500mm PF which is a fantastic lens, I also have TC1.4 III for it. But I'm considering a Z 600 f6.3 and being all Z lens soon.

    70 mile charity run

Very kind, thank you:D He completed it in just over 13 hours - had to walk the last bit, as it's a steep climb to the lighthouse. Over £3k raised so he's very pleased:)

    Buying Z8, import

Another the vote for Panamoz here - I bought my Z9 from them - wasn't cheaper at the time, but after waiting 6 months for a UK one I gave up. Service throughout was first class and I received the camera about a week after ordering. Longer warranty too!

    Binoculars

Another vote for Opticron here - I use these for Otters, birds etc https://www.rothervalleyoptics.co.uk/opticron-oregon-4-pc-oasis-8-x-42-binoculars.html Might find them cheaper elsewhere. I've compared these with Zeiss, Leicas and Swarovskis that cost over £2000 more, and I'd still rather...

nikkor 500mm f/5.6e pf ed vr

I think the only thing you'd miss is the lack of ability to zoom, but if you're mostly at 600mm that won't matter. I've not used a 150-600mm for more than a few days on a trial. I'm pretty confirdent you will see a significant difference at f5.6 - the 500 PF is a very sharp lens. I previously...

    Hiring a lens...

I've used LFH several times now over around 6 years and the service has always been fantastic. Most recent hire was in September 2022, where they arranged to have a lens delivered to me at Heathrow before my flight to Canada, and then sent the return packaging to my address in Shetland for the...

    Nikon 200/500 stuck zoom

I had the same problem on my old 200-500. Repair was around £300-£350 I think (was about 6-7 years ago though). The repair was done by Nikon UK, and took 3 months before I got the lens back, due awaiting spares.
