I'm not going to make a recommendation but i'm looking for a long lens and have been edging towards the Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD Lens. Plenty of reviews on YouTube, and can be had for under £200 used.
As others have said, if your Dad is willing to lend you a camera then take advantage. If you find you don't like photography then you've lost nothing. If, on the other hand you get hooked, then you can go from there.
