I shoot Canon for film and Nikon for digital purely because of what was the most appropriate at the time of buying the camera in terms of functionality, glass and cost.
I have a foot in both camps so I hope I don't get caught on the fence!

If so, I'd make one suggestion. I'd say hang fire on the D90 until you've seen the new Nikon D7000. It's a replacement for the D90 but with HD video.

I'm looking to get the Nikon 16-85mm f3.5-5.6G VR ED AF-S DX and I wondered if anyone had any experience of this lens. I imagine that at the wider end, 16mm should be more than enough for landscapes (allowing for crop factor) and 85mm will definitely be enough for the zoom end...
