Keep an eye out on the website of your local college. They often run photography workshops and are usually much cheaper than that.

I'm sure their guests would be happy enough to send replacement cards, I know I would. Probably wouldn't be putting my hand in my pocket to replace the money though.

My first workshop as well, only had my studio light out of the box once so far, not had time since moving house and unpacking etc. Not sure what to take with me apart from my camera, I'm sure they'll send out more info closer to the time.
