    Which Filter for Nifty Fifty?

Hello all, Just wondering what filter to get for a 50mm 1.8? I am assuming a CPL wouldn't be used much? or is the 50mm ok for some landscape stuff? Thanks.

    Cheap macro lens- canon

Hey Charlie, As standard, it is unlikely that you will get the results you want from a 50 or 55-250mm. The 50mm 1.8 has a minimum focusing distance of 600mm. It is possible to use extension tubes with a "normal" non-macro lens. These can provide some very good results, although I don't...

    External Hard Drive

Hi all I am looking into getting an external hard drive. Not sure yet if I am going to get a portable or desktop - ideally I guess I would go for portable but obviously they are more expensive, so looking into both at the mo. If anyone could give me ideas of what to go for, any good deals...

    Beginners lenses

I'd go for the Canon 55-250 IS. I love mine. I haven't heard a good word about any of the canon 75-300's. If you could stretch to the price of a 70-300 IS, then I guess that'd be the one to go for. There is a "budget telephoto" lens review in this months "Digital Camera" magazine. The...

What do you do in your lunch break at work?

Myself, and the other guys from the Engineering team go out and play hacky sack, or mess around with a frisbee, american football or whatever. Recently, I've been spending more time on here though. I hope to kick off a photography competition at work soon though, so we'll probably all be...

Just wondering, why have you narrowed down your choice to these two? What is it about them that you like? Maybe if we understand this, we can consider which suits you more?

    Help with my first DSLR

If £400 is your budget for everything, I personally would go for: Canon 20D from ebay = £175 to £200. Canon 18-55IS Lens = £60, from on this very forum. Canon 55-250 IS Lens = £130, Used, from here or ebay. This would leave a small amount for a CF card. Keep an eye out on here or ebay...
