I wonder if anyone on here owns or could recommend a studio that does makeover and photo shoot type packages or something similar in Scotland or within a few hours drive of Edinburgh for a reasonable price? (read cheap:p) It's my girlfriends 21st next week and I have seen a lot of these...

Not sure about the weight of the 40d, but could be worth popping down to your local Asda as they sell 'Hama Star 42' tripods for £9.99 and they are 100% better than any other £10 tripod I've ever seen. I find it copes well with my 300d, grip and a 70-200mm lens I borrowed from a friend...
