cheers for the info everyone, been having a look about and found a couple of places local to me, my favorite so far that is what i'm looking for is:
http://www.clearcourses.co.uk/
i think what you said srichards and CT is right though, i just need to get myself out there and get taking...
Just wondering if anyone has taken any courses that you could recommend, online or classes.
I'm really just getting started and have read through a good few tutorials but could really do with a bit of direction.
I live in Fife so if anyone knows of anything local, that would be perfect...
i bought David Busch's book a few weeks ago (well actually ended up with 2 as i wanted it for my holiday and one hadn't turned up so bought another, so now got a spare ) and have to say for anyone starting out with this camera it's a good buy, it's helped me a lot in firstly understanding...
well i ended up going for the Nikon 55-200 VR in the end and it came last friday, cheers for all the advice
will just need to work at getting the best out of it now (that and the camera )
cheers mate, yeh after a bit of scouting about they are both a lot cheaper brand new than the rest so i'm taking the ground that it's 'too good to be true'
spotted an 'as new' one on ffordes but dont know if it will come with any covers or if it's just the bare lens
hmm.... after a quick search i've had second thoughts about ordering from camerabox !
anyone used these guys

managed to find the 55-200 VR AF-S on camerabox for £145 delivered which seems like a really good price to me, i take it this would work perfectly with my D5000 since its the AF-S model ?

dotcomjohnny - whats LCE ?
cheers for that Tony thats a great help, one of my pals has the tamron 70-300 so going to see if i can borrow that for a day or 2 and see how i can get on with it, i know that and the Sigma won't be top quality but as said for the price that can't be expected, i'm...
is this Sigma the same as the one above and would AF on my D5000 ? sounds the same to me, just want to make sure it will AF

haha sorry mate for some reason i completely missed your post, that lens looks good
looks like it's between 3 now
will just need to see if a second hand lens comes up at a decent price rather than buying new
whats the general thoughts between the sigma 70-300 and the tamron...
for my price range i reckon it will be between a Tamron 70-300 or a Nikon 55-200VR, would love to get the Nikon 70-300VR but it's more than i can justify spending right now after just buying the camera lol
i know the Nikon lens is better but i'm just not sure if i'll regret not having that...
cheers mate, yeh i do like the look of the Nikon 70-300vr but it's a bit more than i'm looking to spend atm
the Tamron 70-300 i've found for £125 delivered and would fit into my budget, might keep my eyes open for a second hand one
as i said i'm not looking or expecting an all...
