    Flash Guns

If your camera is capable of high speed sync, it means that the flashgun will sync at up to 1/8000" (Depending on your camera.) If it doesn't, then you'll be limited to about 1/250". Can be useful for fill-in outdoors when you want a shallow DOF, and hence higher shutter speed, amongst other...

    Flash Guns

For value for money go for the YN568EX, it will work off camera using CLS, and has high speed shutter sync. If you don't need the latter, then get the YN565EX, which is a little cheaper.

    Nikon SB-400 for £69.99

Looks like after the 100 sold in one go, Currys pulled the listing. Strange, as originally they had about 300 to shift, and stopped the listing after 159 had sold. Maybe they'll re-list at a higher price. They did have a few left with missing manuals / cases under different listings.

Second flash? Already have an SB600

If you want to try third party instead of Nikon, then you could get a Yongnuo 560EX. This will work as a slave in the CLS system, but manual on camera. For both master and slave plus on camera TTL, you could try the Oloong SP-690II. The Yongnuo is about £60, The Oloong £95.

Nikon Third Party flash with HSS

There seems to be some confusion regarding the 560ex. This is like the 565ex, but doesn't do on-camera TTL. So its a great alternative to use as a slave if you already have a flash to act as master. It also has no HSS. 560ex. Manual only on-camera, CLS slave, no HSS 565ex TTL on camera, CLS...

Nikon Third Party flash with HSS

I've got a 568 and SB700. The 568 doesn't work as a master, but does everything else. Works OK at 1/8000 s. Its well made and certainly worth the money.

    Crumpler Jimmy Bo 600 £9.95 and 700 £12.95 delivered

Thanks for the info. I've just measured mine and its 150mm wide, 200mm from lens cap to back. 130mm high, this dimension is where the problem usually lies, my existing Lowepro case strains at the zip.

Would any of these accomodate a D800 with 28-300 attached?

    Tripod buying help

Hi Pete I haven't carted it about much so can't comment on that. The bag has a comfortable strap, so that makes it easier. I can also fit my monopod in the bag along with the tripod, (for storage as it adds to the weight.) Had I known how solid the tripod was, I would probably have been OK...

    Flash Guns,

I just got a Yongnuo YN568EX for just over £100. Reason for this model is that it will sync at up to 1/8000s, and will work in remote mode. Its very good for the money, considering my SB700 was twice the price. However, if you're not going to use a flash much, then maybe a cheaper model would...

    Tripod buying help

I went for the 324 & RSH 12 for the same reason. Plus its a very sturdy tripod. I've also just got the monopod, which has twist locks. Its a personal preference, but I do prefer the flip locks.

    Nikon D800......

Apologies if this has been asked before, but does anyone know of a good holster type case for the D800? One that could take the camera and say the 28-300mm lens. Many case specs. say that they can take the camera, but when you look at the dimensions, they are too small. The Lowepro 55AW looks a...

    Peli 1550 vs maplin

We use Peli cases at work, and ship equipment overseas and back on a regular basis. They are an excellent product, and virtually indestructible.

    PANAMOZ.

Don't be surprised if it says "Sample Imaging device (no battery)" with a low value on the shipping paperwork and box label.
