conversion to full frame pros and cons?

I stuck with crop. It suits my usage better, but I do like the extreme wide anges with ff. There's an article here I've got a Sigma 12-24 and it's great.

Rejected passport photo - Possible to correct in photoshop?

Just checked my passport photo, done at my local photolab, who have a passport photo service. The background is virtually pure white. However, they advised me to take off my specs as, apparently, any reflections in the lenses will mean the pictures get rejected.

    Lower res increase light sensitivity?

I think that the lower resolution images just interpolate values from the complete sensor pixel set - 'throwing away' what they don't need. Where there is a difference is with the likes of a D300 / D700 comparison. Both have a similar resolution of abou 12 megapixels, but the D700's larger...

Resize batch in mm for print

Work it out based on the resolution of your image. If you are using 300dpi, that is 11.81 (300/25.4) pixels per mm. For 20mm you need approx 236 pixels. Do do it in a batch, you could select in Bridge, then use Tools>Photoshop>Image Resize and set the max width & height. Tell it what...

    camera settings

Am I on my own??? I leave the camera on P. That way I can always squeeze off a grab shop and be reasonably sure of getting something. But! I shoot Raw, so I can correct all but the worst exposure problems. I look at the camera's chosen settings before taking the shot and use the...

    Mighty Mouse or tablet?

I've just ordered the same Bamboo - now just waiting for Amazon to deliver. I'm happy using a mouse with PS for most basic edits, but there are some things that you just cant beat a tablet for. The Bamboo will replace an old Maplins tablet that I can't get to work with CS4. I have gone for...

    NIKON possibilities

Nikon have kept the same basic lens mount for decades so pretty well anything will fit. BUT - Focusing A manual lens will never autofocus AF ones may or may not work. Originally, Nikon didn't use motors in the lenses but had a drive (7 o'clock on the lens mount) that turned the focus on...

Basic Photography Course - Advice Please

When you're showing the tweaks you need to consider what software they're using. Your class may not own anything as 'advanced' as PSE, so I would recommend using something like Picassa - it does the basic tweaks and a few effects and it allows emailing, webalbums etc and most important - it's...

    2 camera's worth having.

In the days of film I used to carry 2 SLRs (Slide& Mono). Since digital I only need 1. I actually have 2 DSLRs - My D300 and my old Fuji S2 pro which I keep as a spare as it's not worth selling - but I only use the Nikon. I do have an old Fuji bridge camera that I can stick in the saddlebag...
