    Realising you know nothing.

Marty Daz Have to agree with you. With my "old" D40 I have a black bar but on something that doesn't putting the cap on would give you a black background against which to view the text.

Lynton that is exactly what I mean. I didn't know it was there. The other side of the viewfinder has the same notchy lump it just doesn't move. Didn't notice that the notchy lumps were not at the same height.

    Realising you know nothing.

On my d40 the text is shown against a black bar so I managed to get it quite sharp again once I realised how stupid I was. Thanks though and will remember the trick as it's bound to be useful at some stage. Either when I Change my camera or get old eyes. I've been impressing myself over the...

    Realising you know nothing.

Had a little giggle to myself earlier when I found something new on my camera. For the last couple of weeks I had thought I had damaged my camera as the display at the bottom of my viewfinder was blurred. Only when cleaning it did I find the slide on the side of it. Had been saying...

No offence taken Splog. Got to have pretty thick skin to keep this amount of fat in. Cloud just starting to break up here at the coast near Newcastle. Fingers crossed it will keep going.

    Northern lights

Us "up north" are supposed to have some chance of seeing pretty colours in the sky tonight due to the sun getting a bit excited and loosing a bit of it's self the other day. The question is....... Is there much chance of capturing it with a Nikon D40 if I can get away from ground light...

Help me not to buy poorly.

Gimp seems awkward in that you have to download the source and then find something to compile it. Don't really know what I'm doing with that.

Lots to think about. Will do some more reading on both the software and flash suggested. Thanks folks.

Help me not to buy poorly.

Yeah it was Elements 8 that they were charging that for. The problem is that I don't really have a budget. I know that sounds silly but I don't wan to say I only want to spend X when ten quid more would get me so much better. Maybe if I say that I spent £200 on the D40. Yes second hand...

Help me not to buy poorly.

Firstly, I couldn't decide if that headline is correct use of English. Anyway. I have bought myself a second hand(But in very good condition) Nikon D40x. I'm doing lots of reading and learning slowly. I now want to buy a better than on board flash and some software to edit photos. I...
