    D700 vs D800(e?)

I upgraded from a D300 to a D800e three weeks ago myself. I was having similar concerns as those raised in this thread, particularly did I really want to go to full frame given my primary focus is wildlife. Would I really find the new camera a step up from the old D300? I can now reveal the...

    Any news of new Nikons?

One area where Nikon is lagging against the competition is in the area of high resolution, high performance. The D3x is the only Nikon in the current lineup with a pixel count greater than 12Mp, and it slows to under 2fps in 14-bit mode. While this might be fine for the studio, its less than...

    Changing from Canon to Nikon

Not really sure I understand sorry? There's a fractionally crop of 14 pixels, it appears that Bibble was chopping off the edge to make the aspect ratio 3x2 (thanks for bringing my attention that feature). Here is the jpg without the crop, again noise reduction switched off...

    Changing from Canon to Nikon

That's quite remarkable, are all 50D users seeing this same level of noise at ISO400, as that doesn't look right? :o I can see why you are disappointed. As an example, here a full frame jpg converted from a raw file from a D300, at ISO800 with noise reduction turned off in my processing...

Nikon telephoto upgrade path for wildlife

Well those certainly look great Martyn! Perhaps its poor long lens technique on my behalf, but when I come to process pics I'm never that overjoyed with the teleconverter on. Its obviously more noticeable when pixel-peeping, but neither the sharpness or colour seems quite as good as when using...

Nikon telephoto upgrade path for wildlife

I've got the 200-400 which gets used in conjunction with a D300. To be honest, while the versatility of a zoom has been useful at times, 95% of the time for wildlife its locked at 400mm and I wish I'd gone for a prime. I don't get too well with the converters on the 200-400. I'm never very...

Anyone used the Nikon TC 14E II on a 70-200 VR?

I have the same combination, a D300, 70-200 and recently bought the Nkon 1.4x teleconverter. Its not *too* bad, but there is a noticable loss in sharpness even when stopped down. Here's some basic testing I did which might help you (look at F8 in particular)...
