Well I've just checked out the redsnapper site and the QR plate I currently use doesn't fit on their ball heads anyway, so I'm pretty much free to pick and choose whatever head I want. Will have a look at that recommendation though, thanks.
Ah good old redsnapper. I've already got the RS-284 and it's great, even if I have managed to get sand into every crevice, on the tripod I mean :D
I'll certainly keep the £50 one in mind but if anybody has experience of the RSH-61 that'd be great.
I was bought a gorillapod slr-zoom for xmas, which was nice :). I've not had a chance to use it in anger yet but soon I will. I still need to get a ball head for it, so any recommendations would be great, ideally under £50.
Ta.
Hmmmm, thanks guys, that is certainly food for thought. Yes I could put a converter on but that's more money right there. I'm also thinking that if I get a taste for motorsport photography I'm need more length sooner or later, so maybe the longer lens is the way to go.
Hi,
I'm planning on venturing to the BTCC when it comes around in May. It's only down the road from me so I though why not? :)
Anywho, I'm in the market for a general purpose telephoto but I've got one eye on this event to make sure I've got enough length. I'm using Canon (only a 1000d atm...
I was going to get a desire but didn't want to wait 4 weeks to get one. I don't want to wait for my new shiny shiny! Ordered a samsung galaxy instead. I haven't actually got it yet, it should be turning up today. The 4 inch screen swung it for me, especially as it's a super AMOLED
I...
Yeah, I think you're right that you have an "eye" or you don't, much in the same way that some people have a natural aptitude for playing a musical instrument, for example.
I asked this question as I'm currently in a bit of a funk with my photography. Some things I can do quite well (I...
Well the title says it all really. I've got my camera, I understand in theory what makes a good photo but I never seem to spot it. Is it a case of just taking a gazillion photos at first or is there something more to it than that? To me that just seems to be the wrong way to go about it.
No, the 17-50 focal length is still measured by full frame standards. It gives you the equivalent of 27-80 on a crop camera. If you wanted the same field of view on a full frame you'd need a 27-80 lens.
I think the focal lengths are measured by full frame standards so people don't get confused.
Sorry, I just get annoyed when people say "are you going full frame blahblah blah" it just bugs me. :)
The focal length is still 17-50 on the tamron, and the same is for the 17-40. The field of view of both lenses are multiplied by 1.6. The focal length is a bit out of date nowadays imo, but I...
Only if he's planning to go full frame in the future. I don't think this is a good enough reason to not consider it personally, but that's just me. Even then if you buy second hand you're not going to lose much money, if any at all when you come to sell it on.
Tamron all the way.
