Are you shooting in auto mode? If so, then the camera tries to keep a faster shutter speed, so up pops the flash. There is an auto mode that will disable the flash, next to the auto mode. Try switching to manual, opening the aperture, and upping the iso, then selecting a shutter speed to suit...

Hi Wasp. Had the same issue with ExtremeGB in the last few days. Bought the mission (not photo) was told it was out of stock, asked to cancel the order on the 29th, card was debited on 30th, and refund was not had untill today. They were friendly over the phone though.

Keep in mind many of the minolta lenses fit the Sony system, there are loads of lenses available, second hand and new, for any budget!

Forgot to add, that one upside of having the Sony lens mount is the ability to use "old" minolta lenses. Meaning you can get reasonable quality glass for cheap! One downside is the proprietary hot shoe for adding a flash.

I tried a Nikon somethingorother (equivalent), Canon 1000d and 350d and the A300, and to me the A300 won. Not much in it though, just feel and controls put it slightly above :)
