Hi Matt You don't need to submit that one. There are many exercises like that and it's just for your own notes to start planning and thinking about what you'll need for the future etc. Hope that helps :-)

I would say you don't need any fancy equipment, mainly just a DSLR at this stage :-)

Hi Kirsty There are portrait assignments etc but i would wait until you start the course to take the photos for it because of the different settings and criteria needed for each assignment. When are you thinking of signing up?

Ha I'm sure you get lots of great opportunities photographing a big family! I'm always taking photos of family and friends, they know now that I will be armed with a camera! Lol As for night photography, I go to a lot of concerts and take hundreds if pics, but the camera I have isn't great...

Thank you. Yes I've looked at the A57 and also the A55 which both look good but I've heard that battery life isnt great on the A55's? I don't mind about the EVF at all. Sounds like the A580 is worth searching for. What would you say was a good price for a second hand one with a kit lens?

Once you get an iPhone, I don't think you ever look back. The camera in the 4s is just brilliant and so quick.

That would be great. I'm new to photography too and am actually looking to get a new DSLR as at the moment I have a Panasonic FZ45 which I love but I think I've outgrown it now. Been looking at the Canon 500 and 550d but also at the Sonys so that's why I asked about your take on the camera :-)...
