    Nikon d850 "in development"

I'd like to upgrade to the D850 one day (from a D800), if only for getting away from the magenta noise in dark conditions.

    d600 vs d700 vs d7100

FWIW I have a D600 and it's a great camera. Excellent image quality, feels quick, isn't too bulky. I also have a D800 for comparison and though I've not used a D700 I'd likely take the image quality and size of the D600 over the D700.

    24mm 1.4 or 35mm 1.4

I know this is totally subjective and impossible to answer, but I'm feeling a bit of a hankering for a new prime and am thinking about getting a Sigma. I know their 35mm 1.4 Art is extremely well liked. The 24mm I didn't know it really existed at an affordable price. This would be an addition...

Canon ef 24-70 f2.8 zoom issue

My advice would be to immediately send it back and get a refund. Do not waste your time or money pursuing alternatives. Excellent condition doesn't mean it should come with faults.

In camera wifi or wifi memory card?

Are the Eye-Fi cards any good these days (do they even exist?)? I had an 8gb one when they came out and it was useless.

Improving focussing with a manual lens

My trusty Nikon 85mm f/1.8 is in for repair at the moment after taking a fall from our dining room table onto a hard floor. Whilst it’s being brought back to life I’m using a Samyang 85mm f/1.4 manual focus lens that I picked up off here second hand a couple of years ago. It’s an excellent...

    Nikon 85mm 1.8 AF-S Aperture Blades stuck

It looks fine. The cap was on it when it hit the floor and didn't come off. It moves a little but halfway through it's jammed and doesn't work. Bit of a b****r!

    Nikon 85mm 1.8 AF-S Aperture Blades stuck

That's a good shout, thanks. I have a Samyang 85mm 1.4, which I love, but it's manual focus, meaning I'll feel a bit vulnerable whilst using it. I'll consider renting one if I need to, or the Nikon 1.4 perhaps. That could be dangerous, though!

    Nikon 85mm 1.8 AF-S Aperture Blades stuck

Hi guy, my lens rolled off my dining room table and hit the laminate floor, resulting in a lens that is currently unusable due to the aperture blades being stuck. They're locked in a closed position, obscuring most of the lens. Are there any known tricks to fixing something like this; can I...

Beginner Lencarta Elite Pro 2 flash duration

Thanks guys, I think I have it figured out. The shutter speed is only fully open (i.e. not chasing eachother) when up to 1/250th of a second. Any faster than that and before the first curtain has arrived at it's destination, the second curtain has set off. The flash duration being very small...

Beginner Lencarta Elite Pro 2 flash duration

That's great, thanks. I understand how the shutter works (when it's going very fast the shutter chases itself, if you know what I mean, creating a fast slit) and now understand from your link HoppyUK that the flash duration is actually incredibly short it is why you only get a very small part...

Beginner Lencarta Elite Pro 2 flash duration

Thanks Garry. I think I need to do more reading. Is it possible to answer in not too many words (for your benefit and mine!) how the Superfast flash heads are different when the syncspeed is still going to be limited?

Beginner Lencarta Elite Pro 2 flash duration

Hi guys. I purchased a Lencarta Elite Pro 2 300w kit in the week and have been having a play since opening it up this morning. I've got a Nikon D800. I've got a question regarding the flash duration. I can't get the flash to work on anything above 1/250th with any success. My understanding was...

    Problems with Nikon Flashgun SB-900

Hi guys, I've got a Nikon SB-900 that's started playing up and has failed recently. When fired, the flash is very weak and does not contribute to the exposure of the photo. I have tried it on several cameras but the issue remains. When pressing the red button on the flashgun, to fire it...

    Rainproof camera bag/cover

I’m looking for some kind of bag or cover for my D800 so when I go to Glastonbury in a couple of weeks time, and it starts raining a little, it doesn’t have to retreat to my bag and stay there until it stops. I’m not sure really what to search for which is giving me problems. I’m imagining...
