I am being pulled towards wildlife esp birds

I too like photographing birds and do find it difficult at times with my 70-300mm lens, however, fieldcraft and patience are big factors. Also you need to be ready at anytime (when on a session)to drop everything and start clicking. One of my best shots of a robin was caught when I was half way...

Advice on editing this shot please

I like both of them and my favourite would depend on what mood I'm in. Having said that, as already mentioned you can have more than one version of a photo. I have quiet a few that I have several versions of the same photo. A lot will depend on what you want from a Photo. The first one is light...

    M2 SSD heatsinks?

Having never bought an ssd card for my pc I'm abit in your situation. However, having a quick look on Amazon I've noticed that you can buy an M2 ssd card with a heatsink already fitted. If you already have an ssd card then I would suggest getting a heatsink from a well known manufacturer if you can.

Do you stick to one style of processing?

I wouldn't consider that I have a specific style of my own. The most common tweak I do tend to do is a slight increase in contrast on the main object of the photo to increase sharpness. (Don't ask me how that works but it seems to). Apart from that I tend to adjust (or not) according to each...

    Confidence, doubt, existential angst

Personally I would keep these two photos. As you have stated you like them and that's all that matters. I too find that most people I know don't enjoy my photos, the most frequent excuse (in my experience) being 'there's no people in it'. Personally I prefer the first one with the trees in the...

    Thoughts on this monitor

I had to use my 32 inch tv as a monitor for a short while and found that it was great for games at the usual tv distance, However when it came to doing work with it and sitting the usual distance from it as I would from a monitor, it was way too big to take the whole screen in. Sitting at normal...

    Camera confusion

I too wear glasses and find them awkward when looking through the view finder. However, my camera has a dioper adjustment wheel on the viewfinder which I find will adjust well enough to meen I do not need my glasses on. Does your camera have an equivalent dioper adjustment wheel, or can you get...

I Feel I am Missing Out (Part Deux)

I too have recently started experimenting with filters in general, including a polarising filter. The problem I found was it was great for the sky but put the lower half of the photo into darkness. Had a lot better success with a ND filter and a graduated grey.I shall continue with further...

Adobe haters, I have a question for you

Personally I don't hate adobe. I use PSE 10 and love it. However, I do not do subscription based software, except for my virus checker, I've always believed renting has its place but for the most part one off payments is the much preferred route. Extend subscription services beyond Adobe and...

    Double Exposure.

Thanks for the responses. A little surprising as I half expected a flat can't be done:)

    Double Exposure.

This might well be a stupid question but Is it possible to take a double exposure with a DSLR?

    Does anyone use lens hoods?

Here's a different view. I do not use hoods. Don't even own one. As for lens protection if I use anything i'll use a UV filter. If I want a little shade above my lens a hand I find works well. But there again can't remember the last time I even did that.

Some thoughts on getting a dodgy email allegedly from a friend, please

As an extra security measure both you and your friend, or just you if you wish could change your email address and just give that one to close contacts. You could also keep your present one active, knowing it is unsafe, for public websites like Facebook, so if it is then spoofed you still have a...

    Recommended Zoos / Wildlife Parks

I'll third the vote for Chester zoo. Again it's been a few years since I've been but have never had a poor time there. I particularly like the butterfly house. It has been suggested to me that the earlier you get to the butterfly house the better as they aren't so mobile first thing.

    Process images of an SSD?

IMHO Doesn't matter what you save to I would strongly recommend you always back up. Stuff breaks down or has an accident or worse gets nicked.
