Hi so I currently have a sigma 17-50mm 2.8 and nikon 35 mm 1.8 so I got some money in paypal now what is I good second hand zoom for 250ish I have looked on Google and nothing comes to the front although the sigma 50 150 looks ok but not sure what else
 
What camera? DX lenses can be significantly cheaper, although they're scarcer. What kind of photographs do you want to do with it? Do you want the most reach (longest focal length) for your money, or the widest aperture?
 
For d5200 with the widest aperture and upto 300 mm general photos nothing special
 
Tamron do a 70-300 with their stabilisation system for under £300 and on fx it's a great lens actually
 
I'd say go for the tamron 70-300 vc, loved mine. Can be had new for not much over £200
 
The Tamron suggested above or a used Nikon 70-300 vr.
 
Hi after more searching the dxomark site gives these as the best zoom for the d5200
 
You won't be disappointed

I borrowed one last year on my d600 it's brilliant and the owner used it on a 7200 and loved it
