I am going to sell my Z6 and buy the Z8 but before I do I was wondering how high ISO photos will compare. I can shoot up to 6400 iso with the Z6 and have been happy with the results but just wonder how the Z8 at 6400 will compare.

If anyone has jumped from the Z6 to the Z8 I would appreciate your comments

DXOMARK scores the Z6 in its ISO test 3299

Z8 2548

While these test only tell you how they do in one specific test, i have always found that the higher they score here, the better ISO capability i observed in real use.

It looks like the Z6 is better at high ISO but the difference is only about 1/3 of a stop and so in reality you are unlikely to notice any difference. I think the main reason to go to the Z8 is the improved video performance. Unless you want the video features the Z7ii appears to give all of the photography performance for a lot less.

I was really unsure how the 7II would fair vs the 6II, having just made that move.

Yes, on paper, the 6ii wins, but in truth, I’ve seen very little difference. Therefore, I would guess the Z8 would be no different, unless you’re looking at things at 300% or pushing the files pretty hard.

I’ve been really pleased with the 45.7MP sensor so far. No regrets at the high ISO end, and even above 3200, I’ve found that Lightroom Denoise does wonders to really clean things up.
