Or .. Tamron AF18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD Aspherical (IF) MACRO .. to give it it's full title.

Now retailing at around £448 in the UK and I was wondering whether it was
supposed to be any good or if anyone is going to get one.

I'd imagine it would be competing with the Nikon 18-200 VR and the Sigma 18-200 OS which cost £75 and £150 less respectively. Is it worth the extra for the added reach, or will quality suffer.?!

I take it no-one has rushed out to buy one of these in that case! I'm athinkin they may have pushed the concept of "all-in-1" a little too far.

I would imagine that in the near future one of the big players will bring out a "real" all in one, Sigma 10-800 anyone?.....

I don`t have this lens, nor one like it, so can`t comment on the feasibility nor quality of it i`m afraid.

Yes please! But I don't see Sigma being able to pull it off without 95% of them being faulty. But I suspect it would be pretty difficult to keep it sharp and have reasonable apertures.

95% being faulty, where on earth has that fact come from?.......

I have the 18-250mm and it's a cracker. great value for money, all the features & spec are more than acceptable for its price bracket, and i'd have no hesitation in recommending one as a good versatile walkabout lens.

That said, the 18-270mm is somewhat more expensive and i wonder what it has that justifies the extra cost...
