This once happened to me and Natwest said it was up to me to keep a record of payments so i guess they where saying it was my fault:shake:

i think this is a difficult one, the retailer (assuming it is a retailer) should not be waiting 6-7 weeks to take payment for any item unless previously agreed (buy now pay later etc) but at the same time, banks state that you are responsible for ensuring the funds are in place for any purchases. Their argument would be that you should have checked statements etc to ensure payment had been taken.

But the reason for being overdrawn - retailer waiting 7 weeks - is something i would check with them. I see no reason why they should be allowed to do this, what is the cut off time, surely payments should always be taken within a reasonable amount of time (24-48 hours???).

you will get no joy from the bank, but retailer may offer to refund you the £29 if you can get them to accept they were wrong to wait 7 weeks. but i certainly wouldnt bank on it.

To be completely honest with you, your post is really hard to comprehend.
I've read it a few times now and I still cant figure out exactly what you are asking. Can you explain it a little further?

I think ethically they should have advised you of the dealy, butlegally they've done nothing wrong. I would complain to them on the off chance they have nice customer services bods

send the company a complaint. you cant lose anything and they might send you something to say sorry. its worth a go!

This happened at our house recently, for a payment authorized in January that wasn't taken till July...:bat:
Copious amounts of tears and a sobbing female voice over the phone to the bank, got her a refund, but we all know what banks are like.

Just being in contact all week with company just abit displeased. If i owe money tell me i don't like surprises 29Quid you live and learn:dummy:

so too clear this up,

you bought something about 6 weeks ago but never got charged for it then a month later order more items from same seller and still didnt get charged then you made a third transaction with the same seller and they billed you for the stuff you had ordered.

That is your fault for not having money in your acount when you are buying something, just because the money hasnt been taken from your account should you then spend that money on something else.

1. yep bought something 6weeks ago,Didn't know i wasn't charged.2 Then bought again from same seller this time told there payments end is playing up i will be deducted for this soon i assumed just (2) 3 bought again+ having dialogue with seller about other unrelated things.then hit with a 3 bills a once.I don't have a problem paying any money owed just tell me that i wasnt charged for (1) i will have the money in the account now to owe bank money for this  as said before not having a go at seller just asking for a balanced view.

I have to say that annoying as the delays may have been, it really all comes down to your poor management of your own finances. You knew the money was owed and should have made sure the necessary funds were available in your account.

was this one of the items you ordered?

found it really hard to read without adding some of these!

Sorry DSLR, but I don't think you have much of a case here :(

Yes, if everything is running smoothly payments should come out of your bank almost immediately but there can be all sorts of reasons for delays - from technical issues to human error.

I was an accountant for a national retailer (quite a few years back now, so the legislation may have changed and I've not kept up to date with it), but at that time we had 6 months from the date of a credit/debit card transaction to ensure that funds were transferred to our account.

I don't think that much has changed in that period, so although it's a pain, I'm afraid that the seller is well within their rights to take the payment 6 weeks later.

Probably not what you want to hear, but the onus really is on you to keep track of your account and what payments have gone in and out.
I suppose that at least you're aware of this now for future purchases, but it's hell of a hard way to learn.

You've not got anything to lose by talking to the seller. If you buy from them regularly they may be prepared to go some way to meeting the overdraft charge as a gesture of goodwill. Even if it's just in the form of a voucher towards future purchases

Gofer I didn't know money was owed from 6weeks back money was in my accout at the time.
Cheers Matty.
Sarah lee as said if i owe money of course i will pay.Just would be nice if i order something on the phone charge me. if i am in constant contact with seller just inform me of delays.
