I know there are people of all abilities here, this isn't a thread necessarily about your "best" photos in a textbook way, but your 5 favourite photos you have taken. They might capture a special memory or it just might be of something unusual.

A brief explanation about why you've included it would be good. If you can remember what camera you used, it might be interesting to include this too.

I'll get the ball rolling

1) My little girl. Just a few hours old.

Taken with Sony Cybershot W130.
This picture is special to me because it puts into perspective how absolutely amazing nature is. The whole process of your first child being born is a roller-coaster. I didn't think it was possible to love another person as much as i love this one.

2) My little girl watering the garden.

Taken with a Canon EOS 500D with 135 f/2.
I had wanted a photo of my little girl surrounded by the wonder colours of my mum's garden and she just wouldn't perform. My mum one day gave her a watering can as a present and i couldn't get i away from the flowers. I love this shot because it shows a little child trying to do a grown up thing.

3) Daisy and bubble

This photo dates from around 2003. It was taken with my first half decent digital camera, the pentax optio 550. It was a chance snap and it was really one of the pictures which really sparked my interest in photography and what was possible.

4) Circuit

This photo also dates back to 2003 and was again taken with the pentax optio. It was illuminated by a laser pointer and was one of my first attempts at messing around with long exposures. This was another one of those pictures which really sparked my interest in photography.

5) What a difference 19 months makes

Taken with a Canon EOS 5D + 135 f/2
This is one of those moments which was over in a second. My little girl and boy in a genuine moment of affection. That unique bond between brother and sister born, unfolding before our eyes.

Over to you.

Not sure if they can be classified as my 5 favourites, but they all hold some meaning or relevance in my journey along the photographic footpath.

1) This came from my first visit to a MotoGP meeting, and was taken with a rented lens, so was quite pleased with what I got using unfamiliar equipment.

2) I think all of us have tried taking a shot of the moon at some point, I was just lucky to hook my camera up to a half decent telescope.

3) Probably not the most technically perfect photo, but my friend was really, really pleased with it.

4) First attempt at gig photography, worried about noise at ISO1600, and afraid security would tell me to move after I snuck down the aisle to get nearer the stage, who said the nifty fifty struggles to focus in low light!

5) Hope this doesn't offend anyone, as I know that technically it's a nude, but you can't actually see anything. Just love the emotion that this image conveys, all thanks to a wonderful model.

In terms of getting the shot right with a specific technique, this is my favourite
ygd7qs.jpg

Train doing over 150mph, focal length 260mm/456mm for crop, 1/40sec pan (obviously an IS lens, 70-300)
This next shot I like because I was commissioned to get a shot of this train somewhere, and I've not had too much paid work and the shot has been used extensively

This is also a favourite, as the first of many shots of my son, taken when he was around 25 minutes old
ymm7hi.jpg

This shot was the first outfit I'd bought for my son of my own accord, and I had a shot setup in mind, the background is only a digitally added one so it's not great

Last one, I'm very pleased with this shot of the Great Orme Tram car number 4, it was achieved via the somple method of taking a shot, running down the steep hill, taking another etc that was easily possible. I think it's very postcard worthy

1. Taken for my 2009 TP 52 Project with Panasonic FZ8 bridge camera. My most successful early outing to get a pre-planned shot - this was for the them "Night"

2. My most successful water drop / bubble shot - I have spent days trying to get these shots so it was nice to feel happy with at least one! Taken with

3. Possibly my favourite zoo shot - I was given some advice about using flash and tried to put it into practice. I felt like I learnt something from this shot... taken with D60

4. Another zoo shot - I usually try to loose the background so this was something a bit different for me. This is another one where I felt I had given the shot thought and achieved what I set out to. Taken with Nikon D60.

5. Another one taken with the bridge camera - this reminds me of the day we went to Colchester zoo and my OH had got me a tiger experience for my birthday. Great day - and this is one of the better shots I came away with!

I really wanted to include a macro shot as that is what I'm most interested in alongside the zoo stuff - but I think these say more about my trying to learn and develop... and also highlight my first love: my Panny FZ8. Introduced me to all sorts of fun and although I've moved onto a DSLR now I still love my little bridge camera!
