I uploaded this quite a while ago on my Flickr and no one seems to have commented on it.
I even tweeted the photo to SpringWatch when some rabbits were on in one 'series' a couple of times but had no results.

Maybe you guys can shed a light on the subject?

Taken from my Flickr -
"We sat down on a bench that looks over the harbour and we didn't see these for around 15minutes!! There were two of these rather young rabbits just on top of the ground and not in their burrows.

Both rabbits had one of their ears taken off.

Why were they here?
Would an adult rabbit pull their young out if it had too many young?"

Stoats are well known for taking young rabbits from burrows. They can empty a burrow of all the young and carry them to their den to feed their young. If they are disturbed then they could drop their meal?

As will birds, where they can gain access to the young rabbits.

Aye - Weasel, Stoat anything really. My cats have brought home rabbits like this too.

Question is - why hasn't it been eaten.

Something else will come along and finish the job but I guess it's just the timing that you found it.

I've seen corvids dragging young rabbits out of the entrance of burrows.
