Interesting, normally this would be an invitation to treat and not actually a binding contract, but on order confirmations sent by Amazon as soon as you make the purchase you get this line:
"Please note that for items ordered from Amazon.co.uk this e-mail is only an acknowledgement of receipt of your order and your contract to purchase these items is not complete until we send you an e-mail notifying you that the items have been dispatched to you. For items purchased from third parties in Marketplace, this e-mail confirms the completion of your contract to purchase those items."
So, where do you stand when buying from Marketplace sellers. No doubt they'd dispute it but it seems that you may have a contract that could be enforced? Is there a distinction between individuals and businesses selling on the Marketplace, and does 'third parties' not apply to businesses? I would have thought it does.
