had a phone call this morning that the daughter was being brought home from work by the police ,being quite concerned about what was going on we rushed down there to find that her house was subject to a 35 year old ( I have since been told 40 years ago) murder investigation,(before she was even born) and we arrived there to find forensics swarming all over the place taking photos etc ,asking questions about alterations to the structure .they are now doing a full clear out search in the loft . wow that long ago doesnt seem feasible but it seems it is

Bloody hell!

They must have received some fairly credible Intel.
Must be horribly intrusive, but possibly worth it if an as yet uncharged murderer can be caught, and it wouldn't be the first "historic" murder to be solved.

Structural alterations? :cautious:
Do they think a body might be bricked up somewhere?

Good grief - how nasty for her - but what a relief if they do get some 'evidence' that's useable from the attic - a big relief for any relatives of the murdered person

Apparently they have arrested someone already ,they also told her it's not yet been released to the press so she may get them knocking the door later.,happened before we lived around here as well so I have no historical history on it

Not sure but they even asked about a slightly different coloured plasterboard on the bedroom ceiling ,I heard that one myself .does make you wonder though

If there is a body, would your daughter want to live there any more?

She actually put it on the market last week ,I think they were more looking for a weapon/s

All sound horrible & disruptive to me. Hopefully they find nothing as I would imagine the asking price could take a hit if it becomes known it was linked to a murder :(

Hope they do what they need to do and get out of there ASAP

my mum once found her loft had been insulated with years worth of stolen mail, the guy she bought it off worked on the mail train and had been pilfering letters marked "william hill"( they were all from the days of postal betting), we had a look at some of them and postal orders were still in some letters but the majority just had the betting slip in and had therefore carried money...she had only been in the house a week and had the police round taking away bin bags full of evidence, she only wanted a light switch moved in one of the bedrooms

Mention to them that there was something odd about the garden when she moved in ;) (Fletcher stylee :D )

Bury some gun shaped tin foil in the bits you want dug over.

There was no chance of that in reality ,as stated they appeared without warning and then went to the daughters workplace to get her ,they also had a search warrant though that wasn't needed as the daughter just told them to go ahead . They were also very thorough in there search and seemed to know where to search I.e the loft .I can only presume they were looking for weapons .
I will probably be able to update this further when the press get hold of it as they know how to delve deeper ,we still lived down south when this murder occurred so I don't know the story

I think they would remove the body.
They'd be obliged to.
Having known people who've stated they would never buy a house in which someone had died (of any cause), I wondered if the daughter would be reluctant to remain in the property if a body was discovered, even after removal.

Must be a horrible experience. Hope it will soon be a distant memory and a fun story to tell.

Sounds like a horrible case. Let's hope the people responsible get prosecuted.
I also hope that the person currently serving time for it doesn't turn out to be innocent.

no apparently there were two of them ,they never found the other one till now .he was still living a few doors further down the turning .thats the one they arrested yesterday .i remember hearing about it when i moved up here and i used to take home the victims mother in my taxi she was a total wreck then ,hope this brings her some closure .

the one who confessed to it originally was from a group of travellers ,and despite having a large field outside our house they have totally shunned it since then .i suspect more updates will follow

I saw it in the Daily Post and wondered if it was too much of a coincidence having already seen this thread.
Nope it's the one ,he has now been named as well .

On a brighter note Richard I got a half page spread in today's daily post with one of my pics from Rhyl air show bank holiday weekend

I understand this, but I think they mean knowing someone has died there. The elderly and very ill often died at home in the past, and there must be a lot of people living in older houses where a death or deaths have taken place, without being aware of it.

I suspect it's mainly a psychological issue.

I'd say 100% a psychological issue.
Even a brutal murder doesn't affect bricks and mortar.

The daughter lives two hundred yards away there is a large open parkland between us ,this particular murder happened 40 years ago in that field .i have learned some rather upsetting details of this particular incident tonight via a ex copper that worked on the case .i will not publish the details but I hope they get a conviction and he gets put away for the maximum term ..
I,m sure further details will come to light via the press reports .
