Hi Guys,

I've recently bought a Yongnuo Speedlite YN460. I've been trying to get the flash to work via my Canon 1100D, I used the flash recently at an event and it worked perfectly through the camera and the flash would go off when I pressed the shutter release button. I've got a band photoshoot tomorrow so I was going to try and take some test shots of my brother with the flash but I then found that the flash will no longer fire when I press the shutter release button. (will only fire when I press the 'Pilot' button manually each time)

Does anyone know how I can get the flash to go off when I press the shutter release button?

Thanks,

Tiegan

Check that it's seated properly, this is a common mistake. Check the camera settings for flash, it may be set to not fire an external flash.

Yes it's seated properly. I've checked the flash settings the flash is enabled but when I tried to click the external flash setting it comes up with "The menu cannot be displayed. incompatible flash or flash's power is turned off" - The flash is definitely on and the flash is compatible because I've used it before.

Clean contacts.

But YN460 is a basic manual-only gun and cannot be controlled from the Canon E-TTL in-camera menus, though it should fire okay. Set the right power for exposure on the gun.

have you set the camera to manual? mine only works that way

Mine wont fire if im using the LiveView on the screen.
