Probably a silly question but will these triggers work with a Godox Thinklite or is it best to buty a Yongnuo gun?

Yes 'it'll work'.
Is it better to buy a Yongnuo flash? To use with those triggers? Not really, you're looking at dumb triggers to fire a smart flashgun.
You need to be looking at TTL triggers as an improvement, and if you're going down that route you should think about a flash with a built in receiver.
You can get that from a Yongnuo or Godox. But if you're thinking you might later want to go for bigger lights, the Godox system us the most complete.
