If I have one of yongnuo rf-603 on camera and then the 580 ex on top of that so I can do a wireless triggger does this stop ettl working. I am assuming so as I tried it once yesterday with family I quickly turned to manual flash.So as not to bore anyone :-)

Gaz, the rf603 are manual triggers as far as I know. The yn622s are TTL.
 
RF603 11 dont have TTL Passthtough, still just manual.

If you are using the 603 purely as a wireless trigger it doesn't need to be on the hotshoe. It can be wired in and hang loose or be fixed somewhere convenient leaving the hotshoe free for your 580.

Really ! Never thought of that.

Yes on this occasion I just wanted the flash on top of the camera which was on tripod and set to bounce off top of wall/ceiling. I must have done it on self timer last time I tried it.

Sounds a perfect soluion.
