Hi guys

Im going to purchase either a 460 or 560 yongnuo flash. I want to use this wirelessly with off camera flash..can any one reccomend me a trigger that would be compatible with this and my sony a37 camera. Ive had a read but seemed to have got a bit muddled so I thought id ask the experts.

Thanks in advance

Hi Lee,

The Yongnuo 560 (and I believe the 460 also) have an optical sensor. That means the flash can be triggered by the camera's pop-up flash. The YN 560II works particulary well in this mode.

You may have some problems if the camera fires a series a flashes to assist AF or if you use it outdoors and the camera's pop-up flash doesn't have enough power to trigger the external speedlight.
In both cases, I recommend you to buy some YN 603 radio triggers, but you must check its compatibility with Sony first, because there are some issues...

There us a long thread over on Dyxum about Flash Triggers for the Sony system

You should find the answers there (I personally use Pixel King triggers, but that was because I wanted the option to use TTL & HSS with my Sony flashguns - they would be the wrong choice for you).

I have a set of these:

They took about 10 days to come from China but the beauty of them is that you can turn them upside down and use a normal hotshoe flash as well as Sony. Ideal for me who had Sony but friends with Canon/Nikon.

OK it won't do TTL & HSS like the Pixel King's but then neither do the 460/560 so it's not an issue.
