Yongnuo 622 vs 603 if not interested in TTL?

Now I think I know the answer but Im going to ask anyway.

Is there any real advantage to the 622's with the TTL over the non TTL 603's if I only use manual off camera flash?
 
622 will give you fractionally faster x-sync speed, do HSS with a suitable gun, second curtain sync, as well as E-TTL. At the price, the 622 is a bit of a no-brainer.
 
Also if being used with suitable flashes the ability to change power levels and zoom from the camera is not to be dismissed.
 
Hmm, I only have a sigma dg500 super and a 540 ex or is it ez, anyway the film one, neither capable of hss, though I would like to be able to do second curtain off camera, so I assume from the above the 603 cannot accomodate that then?

YN622 is only 100% operational with Canon Type II guns, eg 580EX MkII and Yongnuos, so you may not get much more than basic manual triggering anyway. In which case, TBH I'd probably just get 602 or 603 for now, unless you plan to upgrade your flashguns some time.
 
Tail method hypersync,, 2nd CS, better build, focus assist beam (worth the price alone), groups, more secure attachment, faster sync speed (esp over the 603), PC output, transceiver design, much more future proof and much more of an 'investment in your future'.

Whilst true, 100% operational is mostly limited by the older flashguns themselves, we can't blame the triggers and camera for features the flashgun doesn't support fully. I find the 622s perfectly usable with my older 550ex and 420ex. They do some things that the PW's wouldn't and the PWs do some things the 622s won't. But given the price difference to add to the small feature difference, I can't hesitate to recommend them.
