Is the yongnuo 568 flash any good. Thinking of one for my Nikon d750. Could the d750 trigger it for off camera flash??

I used it on my canon 50d and it worked well. Not sure about your camera triggering it although surely if there's a built in transmitter it will.

Yes - the YN568 is fully compatible with Nikon's AWS as a remote flash. In fact as remotes, both the Nikon and Canon versions will respond to either. They are only dedicated to a brand as far as the hot-shoe goes. They look like Canon flashes from a menu/control POV and yet its fairly intuitive even if you're used to staring at Nikon speedlights. The 568 adds High Speed Sync over the YN565. It'll zoom to 100mm (as opposed to 200mm on an SB900) and won't act as a master, however the built in commander mode via the pop-up on the D750 will command it no problem.

In terms of build, it's not quite a robust as an SB900 and is not weatherproof, but the quality is none too shabby. Unlike the YN565, it has no external power connector. Also, it has no USB port for upgrading firmware. Light output is about the same as Nikon's biggest. I think they're a good buy at £78 in the UK (search eBay).

Yes, but, get the radio triggers with it because using Nikon AWS doesn't work well in bright light and if it's dark, your pop up flash can still impact the exposure, even with it set to CMD only.

i have the canon version of the 568exii and i love it. i use it more than my canon 430exii. it's more powerful and has an optical fire mode. i also use their 622 triggers - and they are incredible for the price.

Thanks think i will go and get one but was kinda hoping i can use the trigger build in my D750 rather than having another trigger

You can use the trigger built in to your D750, within it's limitations.

If you're just playing around in the front room at home, you might get quite a decent success rate with it, If you were thinking of trying to use it in bright sunlight, or over large distances, then you need to invest in radio triggers.

Does anyone know if the 568 is compatible with pocket wizards TT1 and TT5 ?

Phil.

I`v e been looking at these, and because I know SFA about flash guns, I have got confused.

All I want a flash gun to do is work with my yongnuo 603 triggers for OCF. I will probably only use the gun once or twice a year so will not splash out on Nikon guns.

Will the 568 do what I want it to do please and is it easy enough for somebody with little experience in flash guns to use?

Also, do they go into sleep mode and can be woken up remotely, unlike the SB600?

I've only used them with the 622 triggers as I wanted TTL over wireless, but with those, it will wake the flashes from sleep with a half press of the shutter button.

Pocket Wizards will fire any flash that is configured for Nikon as far as I know.

My Metz 76-MZ5 with a built in Nikon module works just fine with the PW triggers designed for Nikon.

cheers Andy.

TG. I have the TT1 and TT5 working with the 568s and they trigger fine.

Thanks mate, I can now take a serious look at the 568 as an alternative to Nikon (y)
