Yongnuo 565ex focus assist light not working

Got a Yongnuo yn565ex and the red focus assist lights have stopped working, pretty sure I have changed something in settings (inadvertantly) but I can’t for the life in me get it to come back again , the af-l is set to on , but nothing.
Any help gratefully recieved, it’s the Nikon version btw.

Are you in single af mode or continuos af? I found it didnt work if it was set to continuous

Nah , it’s not that i’m afraid , camera is on af_s

Have you checked the cfn settings on the flash
