woohhoo!!

the transmitter arrived today and so far it does what its supposed to!

I have encountered one problem.

i have it connected to 2 580ex II. it cycles through ettl, manual etc etc. everything works fine except one flash does not want to zoom. i can control the zoom from the tx for one unit, the other just doesn't want to move. its definitely the flash unit as i have swapped groups and its fine. its the flash unit not zooming from the instructions sent by the TX

firmware?

can I ask where you ordered it from please.

i ordered it from eachshot.

http://yongnuo.eachshot.com/search/yn-622c-tx.html

but i think they are available from amazon / ebay

so far everything works as expected. so much easier to control than having to going to the canon menu.

im just stumped as to why one of the flashes isnt responding to the zoom control..

thank you mate, sorry I can't help.

So after a lot of faffin I have concluded it's the flash. Something on one of the 580ex 2 is different to the other. The only thing I can think if is its firmware.

All other functions work perfectly except the zoom. Have swapped channels, groups, receivers etc.

If anyone else has a similar problem let me know.

I need to check the firmware but have no idea how to check it/ update it.
Will post feedback once done.

The tx unit is soooooo much easier than the canon menu system. And it has a lot more functionality than initially thought.

The manual is a bit naff as it tells you how to activate certain functionality but doesn't explain what the functionality does but I'm sure a bit if online research will throw up a 'proper' manual and examples.

All in all for the price I can't complain. Looking forward to using it!

Do settings on the TX translate back into the camera menus?
I have 3 of the normal units 2 for flash 1 for camera but would be handy to buy a TX and an el cheapo flash as a 3rd.

For zooming does the flash zoom anyway or does it think the head isn't straight forward i.e. takes itself out of zoom mode?

You beat me to it Steve just what I was going to suggest. Also check that the 580ex II is in "auto" rather than fixed zoom mode. It might be worth using putting it directly on the camera hot shoe and doing "Clear all Speedlite settings" from the camera menu just to be sure .

i have to put my YN flashes into iTTL mode before i can change stuff on them with the TX unit, it then works as intended.

Cheers all.
Yep,have done all of the above. Reset, put in ettl. I mirrored the settings from the flash that can zoom to the one that can't.

Will try it with my yongnuo flashes as well later.

Either I'm doing something stupid or it's firmware??

Will try again later from scratch.

I've had this problem just using standard yn-622c triggers no transmitter tho but I found that it was the fact my flash units needed resetting take the batteries out leave them a minute and put them back in did the job for me.

ok

did a factory reset of all the receivers as well as the TX unit and its now working fine...odd. i hadnt changed anything at all since having it but the reset seems to have solved it.
