Hi all. i was wondering if someone can help me.

I have two of these radio triggers and i had one attached to my 600ex rt and my canon 5d3 attached with my 70-200 f2.8 mk2 lens.

on my shoot, i noticed how if i did not fire off the flash after 5mins or so, the flash would auto turn off and the radio triggers would not turn it back on again.

i have to manually turn off and on the flash for it to be activated or keep it alive by takig a shot once in a while.

I then tried to set the camera in manual mode using the 5d3's menu settings for external flash. i set it up and began to shoot.

Shots came out fine but wanted to bump up the power and so i did via the menu's. i took a look at my histogram and it hardly moved if that so i tried increasing it further and till i was at full power(or am i?) and notice it did not do anything?

i went back and checked the flash and saw it was still in ETTL mode.

At the end, i had to manually set the flash to manual and its power level i desire to take the shot i wanted.

What am i missing here? doesnt the 622 work with my camera and flash? i bought these over my old 603's so i can do ETTL, control the flashes remotely on my camera and HSS but it seems it cant do most of that remotely.

suggestions?

read the first few pages of the google docs guide and doesn't mention anything specific about making it work remotely.

Thanks

I have a few of these and mine have not (so far) missed a beat.

One thing I did do wrong when I first starting using them and wanting to increasing /decreasing the power setting in camera was not pressing the "set" button once the desire power levels were selected. If "set" isn't pressed the power level just defaults back to it's last power settings.

When you are making any alterations in camera, are you actually confirming these action with the "Set" button.

As for the other problems you are experiencing I'm sorry but I am unable to help you.

Ian

I only have older flashes biut on the power button there's a setting on mine that tells them to wake up from a remote signal. I can't remember what it's called, but its covered in the manual.

As for the 622s there's an 'alternative' manual online that should cover all you need to know. Again no link I'm on my phone.

Have you checked the program settings of your flash unit. As mentioned above, some units will go to sleep, or switch off after a certain time to save battery life. This may be your answer. Took me a long time to find this.

As with most equipment, the answers are usually in the information supplied.

i did a quick test last night and it all seems to have magically worked. i can now set the flash settings on the camera's menu.

bizarre. Got a shoot to do tonight so lets see if they are up for the job.

I know on my 580EX and 580EXII there's a custom setting that turns the flash off after a period of inactivity..... Setting that to off will mean the flash will not go to sleep.

Yup i found it and disabled it.

It all works fine now. i think it may not have been seated properly.

These are cracking triggers and soo easy to use tbh.
