Last night I bought a new wireless mouse for my Mac , the old ones keeps cutting out . Won it in auction at around 7.30 pm . Message comes up “we are ascertaining the winner “ then nothing so it’s oh well I didn’t win … at 10.30 I get a e.bay message ,you won this item pay now £30.99 so paid .. this morning got a. Message from the seller I can’t print the label ..o.k send him my address he still can’t print it , anyway the messages built over the day 30 plus trying to help him in the end he cancelled the sale and I got notification from e.bay I’m being refunded.
The seller thought that he had sold it for £16.75 asked if I would PayPal him £20 and he would send it I already have a tracking number . Did but for goods not friends and family . I honestly don’t think it’s a scam as it went on for hours not worth it for £20 and I took the gamble ,will update later in the week if it arrives..
But what the hell are e.bay up to its total chaos for buyers and sellers at the moment ,has trump and musk taken it over

They encourage you to use their postal service and then send items as quickly as possible. This will build up your selling profile etc.

Yesterday I sold two items and ticked the collection by Royal Mail box. It won't be collected until Tuesday according to them. So I went through RM and they say I could have them collected the following day. I thought I'll go with RM but then, for a tracked item, I need the purchasers email address or their phone number. Ebay no longer give that info out so I couldn't use that option.

Ebay it is then and it'll take longer to get there ????

Also when you select what level of postage you want and you choose the standard, cheapest you're given a tracking number. Except you don't get tracking and you have to pay more for that. Very confusing.

email and phone number:
On eBay "orders page" email and phone number should be on right hand side "show contact info"

Yes eBay postage is a mess, I can't see how to increase insurance over standard £750 when using RMSD

Looked at that and I get this for an email address (my hashtags to stop people trying to use it):

(####)d763e4d5ae030296@members.ebay.com

Would that default to a real email address or is it just for the Ebay system?

From a google:

How does the alias email address work?

  • The alias email address ends in @members.ebay.com
  • It's unique to your communications with that buyer
  • Messages sent using the alias address go through eBay's secure servers
  • The alias email address supports attachments up to 10 MB

But if I was to put that into a Royal Mail collection page would it still work? Or in just an ordinary email for something not concerning Ebay.

Don’t know, email a buyer then ask if they got the email?

Well happy ending to my post above , the mouse turned up today well packed and in as new condition ,boxed and with the charging lead a total bargain at £20 .. suppose it shows there are still honest decent sellers on e.bay
