Yahoo!

Nice one! Just saw that pop up in my Flickr stream. I've got 68 in Yahoo Weather now, so pick a place on the Costa Blanca and you're likely to see one of mine!

Well done! A couple of years ago one of my photos was used for a book cover so I can imagine how pleased you must be.

It's great photo, too!

Great stuff! How did you find out?

Thanks Matt!

Just as Ricardodaforce said, submit them to the group then you'll notice an admin from Yahoo will tag them with the relevant info if they're going to be used. Think this was was tagged 'day' & 'cloudy'. Pretty sure you'll have to have them assigned to a specific geographic location on your Flicker map too.

I'm on a roll........ :)

Wow Danny!!

You ought to try sending them to the BBC Weather too.

Wow! They sure are impressive.

A nice ego boost and great picks, but I always thought they asked/informed you before they use them in the weather app?.

I've never been informed. I just notice that they start tagging the photos.

I'm off to resize, geotag, join the group, add photos, wait for approval and finally view my photos on Project Weather, since the money will come in handy for buying new kit, paying bills and buying food.

Oh wait........... the multi-billion dollar company want them for free.
b****r.

Great post, brightened up my morning, now off to the docs to have my splitting sides repaired

Thank you both for the freely-given compliments. Hope all goes well with the surgery.

You've missed one think though...yahoo via Flickr provide a descent easy to use hosting service to millions of people and a large proportion of those people will have free accounts the use the images could be seen as a payment for the service that the photographer receives from Flickr ;)

Nope, didn't miss that one. Poor argument, sorry.

I'm telling you guys, this fella is a laugh-riot! Real beacon of positivity.

Look, this thread was started to celebrate the little successes that we sometimes come across and give us a little morale-boost.
Not everything has to be about money. We provided submitted photos free of charge to an app that is free of charge to it's users.

In your opinion, frankly I'm happy with my free account on Flickr, it means I don't have to buy and maintain a website, my own server space etc just to be able to post some photos all of which will cost me money...where as Flickr do all that for me I've even got software to allow me to add new photos to Flickr without having to physically add them to like I would have to if I had my own website thus taking more time out of my day...so if Flickr or there owners want to make the occasional use out of my images I'm happy for them to do just that

I had two photos accepted yesterday too. I was super pleased that they thought they were good enough.

Of course, I have to also admit to writing articles for Wikipedia, fixing friends' computers, writing GNU GPL licensed code, offering help on forums, and mowing the neighbours' lawn, all for free, thereby snatching the bread out of the mouths of people who charge for those things. Somehow I've not managed to get rid of the senseless and wrong attitude that there can be other motivations for doing things other than money.

an old thread but no point starting a new one...so yeah, I got several shots invited to the weather app - and I got the weather app too (well of course I did) and it's actually pretty accurate. So you might see mine in Basingstoke, Northumberland and Milford-on-sea

PS they emailed me to ask if I would allow my shots to be submitted, and as far as I know you can't add shots unless you've been invited, but as always - I could be wrong :p

I've got a couple of shots on the weather app to, nice to know a few people might enjoy seeing them. Not bothered about money cost me nothing to take them I've used flickr and yahoo mail for years for free so fair is fair
