I ordered it on Saturday, it came yesterday because I pay for Amazon Prime for 1 day deliveries and all the other perks.

Anyway, it's been on charge most of yesterday afternoon, all of last night and most of today and it still won't hold charge when I unplug the controller from the charger in order to use it on the Xbox, therefore logic dictates it's faulty! However, I've created a return request on Amazon, and they've said because it contains a Lithium battery I can't return it by conventional means! How much is it going to cost me to send it back by special delivery or whatever to their Depot in Dunfermline, Scotland?

I've sent loads of faulty goods back to Amazon before and it's not cost me a penny due to the Amazon return labels.

My default action is always to use Amazon chat.

In your shoes I would simply tell them to provide the right label(s) to return such a product!

PS on the basis.....they supplied it and they are responsible for its cost of return!

PPS though not 100% it was Amazon...I had to return a product that had a Li-Ion battery in/with it and the return labels included the battery warning label (unless you have the original packaging with that label still on it?) and the return courier was UPS.....dropped off at one of their drop off points.

you can send lithium-ion batteries in the post, provided they're fitted to an electronic device or with an electronic device providing the battery is wrapped to prevent short circuit.

On the phone now, so rather than download a PDF

He mentioned it is just a battery i.e. no accompanying device.

But my point whether with device or not, he should not be paying to return it.

Amazon should provide all the correct pre-paid return labeling and instructions as to where to drop it off!

Apologies, I assumed it was within a device.
If Amazon managed to deliver it, then they should be able to recover it using the same delivery service.
Agree, you shouldn't be out of pocket for return expenses.

I had a similar thing with camera batteries from amazon
Go into live chat and request a return label
Take the parcel to the post office and you will need to tell them that it’s batteries, I found that the post office couldn’t take them
I went back into live chat and was refunded and told to keep the batteries

On a side though related note.....

I needed to do an Amazon return and they sent the returns label......when I looked at it, it was not a pre-paid one! Straight back on another live chat, I pointed out the error and the agent was apologetic and sent me the correct labels.

To err is human but you can get the right support as needed ;)

I'll give Amazon a call in a minute.

I'll get the order number and all the bobbins up.

So I just chatted to someone called Anusha on live chat on Amazon, she's refunded the price of the item onto my main Bank card and I don't have to send it back, just bin it or give it to a Charity shop.

I've also been on Game.co.uk and ordered a twin rechargeable battery pack for £7.99 (Good price but damn you Hermes and your 3 day deliveries)

When I referred to "chat" I am not talking about the phone but the online text based 'chat'. That way a transcript record is kept and can be sent to you, for your records, after the chat is finished.

I have no idea how good their phone chat support is or could be???

I hope you get this sorted AOK

@MrRichAllen1976

Sorry if I state the obvious......

But please don't throw the battery in the normal trash.

All batteries need to be put into the recycling system.

PS even if it was good I wonder if charities are allowed to take just batteries???

I'm sure he's not the only one that struggles to understand foreign call centers.
Probably the same for them with us...

I think they struggle with his strong Sheffield accent as much as he does with theirs. I find most of the foreign call centres fairly easy to understand, only really struggling with the DVLA's "help" lines which seem to be staffed with those with the broadest Swansea accents they could find!

I thought "live chat" on Amazon was all text.

Perhaps not.
It is, but in most cases it's still rubbish.

Although to be fair in this case I did get the refund almost immediately (which will take 5 to 7 working days to get back to the Bank! I wouldn't mind but it takes the Bank literally 2 clicks of a Mouse button)

So I bought the twin rechargeable battery packs from Game, and it appears even they don't work, been on charge for ages and don't work when I plug them into the controller.

Meh, might be worth binning them and returning to using AA batteries.

Why not use rechargeable AA cells?

Too expensive and they wear out after a limited number of charges.

Although to be fair back in my student years over in Lincolnshire, I had the old Nintendo Gameboy and bought rechargeables for that (Poundland wasn't a thing in 1993 so I couldn't buy 12 AAs for a quid)

1000 charges or so. Probably the same as the rechargeable packs that you can't get to work. IKEA ones (I forget the name of them) are like Eneloops - they hold most of their charge for a long time when not in use, unlike the old NiCd/NiMH ones which self drained fairly fast.

Thanks Ethel! :P

I've just ordered a AA rechargeable battery charger and 2 batteries, £14.99 from Amazon for delivery tomorrow.

On the surmise that the batteries, Amazon and Game ones are the correct & supposedly fully compatible with your Xbox, I would find it hard to believe that 3 batteries from 2 sources are faulty. To me such a situation would infer the Xbox was at fault!

So, all rechargeable batteries & chargers will take between 2 to 8 hours to charge.....can you confirm that the charger indicator lights confirmed they were charged?

Also, is there a setting on the Xbox to "set" so that it works on which type of battery i.e. different 'setting' for disposable AA or rechargeable battery pack?

I have a base Xbox One at my Parents', because I can't get another Series X from conventional legit sources due to the scalpers selling for stupid prices on eBay (and what's worse is that people are daft enough to pay said prices)

I use the same batteries in my Xbox controllers as in my camera gear ikea branded rechargeables but any decent chargeable batteries are ok
Just charge them up as normal
You can also use a usb type lead from the Xbox to the controller and use it wired

I prefer wireless controllers.

Wireless tend to also be considerably cheaper at most shops/sites than wired controllers.

Me too but at least it’s an option
I’ve had to go back to an old Xbox controller as one of the buttons on my fairly new one isn’t working very well

True.

I'll try and plug the USB lead I have into the Xbox that I use for using the wireless controller on the series of Gameboy and SNES emulators I have running on my Ubuntu box.

I'd never thought of checking out Ikea for camera batteries, thanks for the heads up (y)
Ikea rechargeables - what are they called? Voltagen?

The IKEA AA Eneloop type cells are called LADDA. They're 2450 mAH.

They are called Ladda but are AA and AAA cells not camera batteries I meant for equipment like flashes etc I didn’t word it very well sorry
Not batteries specifically for cameras

Amazon Basics High Capacity rechargeables. They are a little over £1 each.

2 in the controller, the rest stay in a trickle charger. When the Xbox says you're running low, pause, change batteries, restart.

They will eventually wear out just like the rechargeable packs you can get but are useful for loads of other things until they do. Your local council site will take them when they wear out.

If you think rechargeables are too expensive then I can't understand using disposables. I mean, I can't understand it anyway but on cost it's a crazy idea.
