Above.

Logic dictates my drive is FUBAR'd having uninstalled/reinstalled the Blu Ray/DVD app on my Xbox and tried the disc I'm wanting to play several times, I will try the Full Monty disc I have and see if that works just to make sure it's not the disc itself that's faulty, but in the interim does anyone know anywhere cheap in Sheffield, England where I could take my Xbox for repairs? It's a base Xbox One which I've had for at least 9 years and is well out of warranty so I can't just send it back to MS plus I don't have the funds to buy a new Xbox Series X which is currently unavailable in the UK anyway due to scalpers selling for stupid prices on eBay.

So anyway, can anyone help?

Do games work?

If the disc drive's FUBAR'd probably not, fortunately I have a big digital Library from Game Pass and that.
Surely you'd check if a game disc works before paying someone to test it for you.
It's there not a full system reset you could do?

I did, I tested a copy of the Full Monty on Blu Ray and that didn't read in the drive either.

I've got it on in the Lounge.

I do need to get the base Xbox One repaired though as I spend a LOT of time up at Mum and Dad's.
If you don't have a game disc to try, try a full system reset.
It's the exact process Microsoft has in their troubleshooting. Just because a movie isn't playing doesn't mean the drive is broken.

I played the same disc in my Series X this morning and it worked no problem, therefore it IS a drive problem on the Xbox One.

No it's not, please listen. Just because a Blu-ray/dvd movie doesn't play doesn't mean the drive is broken, the first step is check if a game disc plays but you say you don't have any the next step is a reset, after that it's a factory reset.

It's all on the Microsoft site in black and white. Don't be in such a rush to take it to a shop for them to just do that testing for you.

I'm a bit busy over the next few days but I will try a reset/Factory reset and/or a game disc before I take it to the shop in S12.

Well I just reset my Xbox, put in a Blu Ray and it still didn't work therefore logic dictates the drive is FUBAR'd.

I'll ask Dad if I'm allowed to ring that place up Gleadless and see if we can take it in next week.

And no, I don't have any game discs here to try, just a Blu Ray movie.
