Hi all

as always I’m looking at another camera, it’s really going to be an edc and maybe for holidays so I’m looking at really lightweight and have narrowed it down to two

Fujifilm X70
Canon G5X mark ii

so would appreciate everyone’s opinions on both

all the best

Although I'm generally a Fujifilm fan and have sold all my Canon gear in favour of the Fujifilm system, I'd have to say that my preference would be the Canon (I have owned both).

The X70 has a fixed lens of 28mm. The G5X has a 24-120 zoom.
The G5X has a stacked sensor, the X70 doesn't.
The G5X has image stabilisation, the X70 doesn't.
The G5X has an electronic viewfinder (albeit fiddly), the X70 doesn't have a viewfinder.
The G5X has a 20MP sensor vs. the X70's 16MP.
The G5X has a max. aperture of f1.8 vs. the X70's f2.8.
The G5X has higher resolution video capabilities.
The G5X has a built in ND filter, the X70 doesn't.
The G5X has built in Bluetooth, the X70 doesn't

I have to say that the X70 feels nicer in the hand and the build quality seems better than the Canon which sometimes feels a little plasticy but technically, the Canon is a far better (and newer) camera.

Ultimately, I didn't really like either camera and so settled on the Sony RX100 VI which has it's niggles and the user interface can be annoying but it is a usable, pocketable compact camera that generally outperforms both the G5X and the X70.
