Im having a few problems with the viewfinder of my x100f. Unfortunately its well out of warranty and the amount I'm being quoted to repair, about £600, means its just not viable to do. When I switch to EVF the curtain no longer rises to block the viewfinder, meaning I have the electronic image superimposed over the optical one creating a very interesting, but completely useless images for me to shoot. When using the optical viewfinder the electronic images fills the bottom quarter of the screen.

The only workaround I can think of for this is taping the viewfinder up and using in electronic mode all of the time, thereby removing there double image. Does anybody have any quick and cheap fixes for this? Im loathe to replace the camera when everything else works well on it.

How good is the EVF on the X-100f? I know the X-T ones and the baby X EVFs are pretty good so hopefully the 100 series's ones are too! If it IS good enough, do as you have suggested and simply tape over the OVF's front window.

FWIW, the novelty of being able to switch between the OVF and EVF on the X-Pro 1 soon wore off and I always use the EVF now.

Is that quote from Fuji themselves, or a third party? There seems to be a fixed rate service charge by Fuji that's a lot less, but perhaps it doesn't cover this (can't hurt to ask):

You also have additional rights under the Consumer Rights Act if this is a UK purchase, even out of warranty. This is a major fault in an expensive camera that can't be more than four years old. If it hasn't been abused, it may suggest it was not of 'satisfactory quality', which may be worth quoting to the retailer.

Thats from Fuji themselves. Incidentally thats where the camera was bought from. Unfortunately it was bought on my behalf to obtain the staff discount for me

I wonder what they mean by that £155 charge? Maybe it's the minimum service charge...
