Hi

Having finally lost my patience with Spyder5 Pro after it giving me inconsistent brightness setting every time | calibrate it (in the same room and conditions) and unhelpful responses from Datacolor support, I've decided to bite the bullet and change to X-rite. I was originally going to buy Spyder Print in the near future when I start to print my images, but obviously I won't be doing that now. So I'm wondering if buying the all in one X-rite R1 Studio is the best option now, as I've heard that X-rite devices are generally more reliable than Spyder?
Thanks

In my experience the X-Rite products are more reliable and accurate in their calibration and creation of profiles. I use both a CM Display for my monitors and a CM Photo for printer profiles and all other uses. (I use the Display model for the monitors simply because it is a colorimeter and is capable, in theory, of producing a better monitor profile)

Across three separate monitors under different lighting conditions the luminance and LUT are consistent (you need a different luminance level for the monitor depending on the ambient light.).

I avoid measuring the ambient light and having the soft/hardware alter the luminance according to the ambient levels, preferring instead to get as close as possible to a print match.

As for Ink/paper/printer profiles all I will say is that even with the simplified targets and the iteration process those produced by the ColorMunki Photo are exceptional, as the i1 Studio uses similar I would wager that they will be just as good with the added bonus of being able to produce B/W profiles...
