Wow Cheap Domain Need To Make A Website?

The Domain i want is cheap as chips, like £6 for two years.
That sound about right, never looked into it before!

Sounds about right that mate, domains arn't dear at all. It's the .com, .net, .tv ones etc that tend to cost a bit more.

Hosted mine on fasthosts and a mate built it for me, not much help, but there you go...........

How much time you have and how much do you got to spent?

You can either

1 - Pay someone like £500 to build you one
2 - Use lots of templates out there that's free open source but you need to learn and tinker it yourself
3 - lean HTML or C++ or Java, or Flash and code your own
4 - Get it from sites that offers hosting and a already designed site ready to buy.

That should be HTML, CSS, Javascript and PHP (Just in case this was the option you chose)

FrontPage has been replaced by MS Expression Web now. It's still FP behind the scenes if you ask me, just updated and renamed... :shrug:

Quick tip, don't buy your domain and hosting from the same place, I would get the domain from someone like godaddy.com or from 123-reg.co.uk. A lot of hosting deals offere free domains that you have to pay to transfer for if you move hosts and they aren't usually very flexible.

Theoretically, he could use C/C++ for a bunch of CGI scripts, but I don't think there are any web hosts that allow it and ask any sensible amount of money

Java is fine for server side programming, applets usually suck.

PHP is easy (its object model in php 5 too).

For the OP:

Why don't you use something like Gallery 2 or Coppermine? If you want a personal website, then Jaws CMS could do the job well too.
Don't forget you'll need a good webhost too. Having a domain registered doesn't get you anywhere unless you have some web space where you can put your stuff and to which the domain is being directed.

I am sorting out a website for myself and i have done a simple html site tha took me no time at all. The domain is sorted and now just to find some hosting.
the website will always be tweaked from time to time.
