I have been trying to sell an old Sony DSLR on Ebay, each time it has got to an acceptable price.

The 2nd time the buyer was in the USA and either did not read the auction or was just a time waster

The other 2 times, apparently their kids accidently bid on them, whats the chances of that hey ??????

Never had this much trouble selling on there before

i use ebay a lot for clearing out old IT stuff from jobs and it can be a challenge.
however set your postage options to UK only for a start and that will sort out the overseas chancers.
