Would a faulty SD card cause a Nikon D750 to jam ?
I presumed it was yet another jammed shutter fault (already been returned to Nikon last year) BUT
having removed the SD cards and putting them in the computer each card has just 7 images recorded out of at least 40 shots.
The shutter jammed (with 'err' message) but would release again after a few pushes of the release button.
It was a definite jam rather than just waiting for the buffer, I was taking single shots.
I have inserted different SD cards and the camera is now operating correctly.
Will extensively run the camera through all my lenses tomorrow.
The SD cards concerned are both Lexar professional 150MB/s 1000x (1x32gb and 1x16gb) bought from Amazon direct.

Which ERR message? That should tell you what the error is - broken shutter or faulty card.

Thanks for your reply.
Just 'err' on the top screen, I didn't look at the main screen because I immediately thought Shutter Jam again.
It was raining at the time so didn't properly investigate there and then.

If its working with other cards I suppose it's conceivable that you have two duff cards and the camera is trying to write to the card and failing so the shutter is locked thinking the exposure is not complete.

The only times I've had ERR messages, it's been a lens communication problem. When I've had card problems, it's been CHA.

This what I am hoping is happening, and it's not the dreaded shutter fault again.
I'll test cards, lenses and cameras tomorrow
Thanks for the reply.

Same here, but a quick 'fire' with the same lens (80-400G) with different sd cards worked fine.
Longer testing tomorrow.
Thanks for your reply.

Just a thought are the cards legit?

The D750 doesn’t like Lexar cards or cards that have ever been formatted on a p.c or in another camera.

Can you shoot without card? If so this could help eliminate the card.

That was my first thought, but they were bought direct from Amazon.

I formatted them in camera.
Hope your suggestion that there is a Lexar incompatibility problem is the answer (hadn't heard of it before).

Thanks to both for taking the time to help.

Hopefully I have resolved/found out what caused my D750 to jam, and thanks to all above with your advice.
It would appear that my Nikon D750 is not compatible with the Lexar 32gb sd card - or vice versa.
I ran every other sd card I have through the camera, both with the same 80-400G lens and my other four lenses as well, all without any problem whatsoever,
Just to see if it was the actual card that is faulty I have also run the Lexar card, as back up, in my D800 without any issues.
Hope this if helpful to others and thanks again for taking the time to help.
